Biography

After graduating from KabataÅŸ High School, I pursued a degree in Political Science at Galatasaray University. During my studies, I had the opportunity to participate in Erasmus at Sciences Po Paris. I then pursued a master's degree in Cultural and Arts Management at UIC in Barcelona. After working in the private sector for a while, I decided to become a psychotherapist.

 

I graduated with high honors from the Psychology Department of ÖzyeÄŸin University, where I worked as a research assistant for Dr. Justin Markus during my undergraduate studies. I was awarded a research scholarship from ÖzyeÄŸin University and worked on a research project titled "Mindlock," conducted by Dr. Bergljot Gjelsvik at the Oxford University Psychiatry Department, which focused on suicidal ideation. During this time, I attended courses on mindfulness and depression taught by Dr. Mark Williams and Dr. Willem Kuyken at the Oxford Mindfulness Centre on a scholarship. The same year, I attended the Centre for Mindfulness Research and Practice Conference in the UK. Upon returning, I completed an internship at French Lape Hospital.

 

I completed my specialization in the Clinical Psychology Department of Bilgi University. During this time, I served as a research assistant for Dr.Sibel Halfon's study on the effectiveness of psychoanalytic play therapy at Istanbul Bilgi University. I also provided supervision-assisted counseling to children, adolescents, and parents at the Istanbul Bilgi University Counseling Center and conducted psychological assessments. My master's thesis, supervised by Dr. Yudum Söylemez and Clinical Psychologist Ferhat Jak Ä°çöz, focused on "Adolescents' perceptions of self and others on Instagram." My research interests include social media, technology, and generational differences, parenting.

 

I have completed Level 1 and Level 2 EMDR, Level 1 EFT-Emotionally Focused Individual Therapy training. I attended basic training on Somatic Experiencing and Maggie Klein's training on Somatic Experiencing with Children. I completed Level 1 Regulation-Focused Therapy training, taught by Dr. Tracy A. Prout at Yeshiva University. I attended micro-analysis classes on mother-child communication at winter seminars organized by the Canadian Psychoanalytic Child Therapists Association.

 

In my practice, I incorporate EMDR, mindfulness and body practices in addition to a psychodynamic approach. I use play therapy when working with children. I provide psychotherapy in Turkish and English and am a member of the Turkish Psychologists Association.
